On March 12, 2022, on the sidelines of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev met with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Stanislav Rascan.
During the negotiations the Parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, noted the necessity to intensify political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, expand the legal framework between the Kyrgyz Republic and Slovenia. In this regard the Parties discussed plans to organize political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and high-level visits.
Minister R.Kazakbaev outlined the importance of developing economic cooperation, in particular, expressed the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to sign the Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and Slovenia on economic cooperation and the creation of the Kyrgyz-Slovenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
State Secretary S.Rascan expressed appreciation to the Kyrgyz side for the successful organization of the First European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum on November 5, 2021 in Bishkek, stressed the role of the Kyrgyz Republic in developing cooperation between the two regions and expressed hope for the continuation of activities in the framework of this format.
In addition, the Parties discussed fruitful cooperation within the framework of international organizations, confirmed the course to continue mutually beneficial cooperation on the multilateral platforms.
During the meeting the Parties also discussed the current development of the international situation in the world, including the events in Ukraine. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R.Kazakbaev noted that Kyrgyzstan is following with concern the development of the situation in Ukraine.
Minister R.Kazakbaev stressed that the Kyrgyz Republic supports the start of the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine on a peaceful settlement of the conflict, and is interested in the earliest achievement by the parties of mutually acceptable solutions that contribute, first of all, to a ceasefire and a way out of the crisis. He emphasized that any conflict must be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means, including by creating new formats and mechanisms if the existing ones do not work anymore. The Minister informed that Kyrgyz side supports any mediation efforts in this direction, and, if necessary, expresses its readiness to assist in establishing peace and mutual understanding.
