Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Kingdom G.T. Iskakova participated and spoke in a multidisciplinary conference entitled “Connecting Central Asia in the 21st Century” held on April 25, 2019 at Oxford University (Oxford). The event is organized by the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies at Oxford University. Heads and representatives of diplomatic missions of other Central Asian countries accredited in the UK were also invited to the event.

The conference in Oxford brought together leading scholars, practitioners, postgraduate researches and graduate students from across the disciplines of social sciences and humanities, united by a common interest in the issues of development and cooperation in Central Asia. As part of the conference program, participants made presentations and held discussions on areas related to the impact of history on the current state of affairs in Central Asia as well as identification of economic development topics, search for answers to religious questions, ethnicity and radicalization, security in the region, the influence of large countries - China and Russia. In particular, a separate meeting was devoted to the initiative “One Belt - One Road”, whether it is a boom or a recession and also possibilities of regional cooperation between the countries of Central Asia.

In her speech, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic spoke about the ongoing positive changes in the life of Kyrgyzstan, about the dynamically developing processes of forming a parliamentary form of government and the institutionalization of democracy, and the efforts of the government in implementing tasks of developing the country's economy.

The Kyrgyz Ambassador G. Iskakova stressed the priority importance for the Kyrgyz Republic of developing and strengthening the entire spectrum of cooperation with the countries of Central Asia based on the policy of good-neighbourhood, friendship and cooperation, noting that the integration process within this region is likely to be led by generous, inclusive and inclusive.

The Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic drew attention to the need for Central Asian countries for further mutual support, gaining experience in successfully resolving issues of border delimitation, the provision of free transit, trade, water and other resources management on a mutually beneficial basis.

Referring to the initiative “One Belt - One Road”, the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic G. Iskakova noted the importance of the participation of Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of this initiative and the effective use of emerging opportunities and benefits of regional cooperation.
