The Mailuu-Suu City Development Forum was held

On June 16, 2022, as part of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic initiative on sustainable mountain development, with the support of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, the Mailuu-Suu City Hall together with the National Investment Agency under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic organized the Mailuu-Suu City Development Forum. The event was dedicated to the socio-economic and ecological development and strengthening of the investment potential of Mailuu-Suu. In particular, projects were presented on the construction of a mini hydropower plant in Mailuu-Suu, creation and development of a wool processing plant, reconstruction of a drinking water bottling line and production of energy-efficient thermal insulation material based on foam glass. 

At the same time, representatives of the international partners spoke about the projects on remediation of uranium heritage sites in Central Asia, as well as about the activities carried out for remediation of the Mailuu-Suu uranium complex. 

With the aim of supporting the policy of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on regional development, the First International Conference to discuss the mechanism of establishing the Association of towns and settlements with uranium legacy is planned to be held in September 2022.

The opening ceremony of the Mailuu-Suu city and Kyrgyzstan’s Uranium Legacy History Museum, as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mailuuu-Suu City Hall and International partners also took place on the fields of the Forum.
