On July 15, 2021, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva A.Beishenaliev had a virtual meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights M.Bachelet.
During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the OHCHR. Permanent Representative A.Beishenaliev stressed that Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates activities of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and attaches great importance to further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with the organization. In this context, he noted the relevance of the programs and projects implemented by the OHCHR in the country. The Permanent Representative A.Beishenaliev assured High Commissioner Ms M.Bachelet that, while remaining committed to its international obligations and strict implementation of all previously signed treaties, Kyrgyzstan will maintain its continuous work aimed at promoting and protecting human rights and freedoms.
In turn, High Commissioner Ms M.Bachelet expressed her appreciation to the Kyrgyz side for the fruitful meeting and for providing information on the current situation in Kyrgyzstan and confirmed the readiness to continue cooperation to resolve the issues facing the country in ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms.
