On May 3, 2021 the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN in New York Mirgul Moldoisaeva held a meeting with the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo.
During the meeting the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic Mirgul Moldoisaeva informed the Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo on the current situation in the border areas of the Kyrgyz Republic. In particular, Mirgul Moldoisaeva underlined that as a result of the armed conflict, 36 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic were killed, including children, over 180 people were injured, there are more than 33 thousand persons were displaced, hundreds of residential houses, educational and infrastructural objects were destroyed. In this regard, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed a request of the Kyrgyz side for assistance from the UN to internally displaced persons and their return to their places of permanent residence, as well as in the restoration of destroyed infrastructures.
The Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo expressed the UN's readiness to consider the provision of humanitarian assistance to victims of the conflict, as well as assistance to internally displaced persons evacuated from the conflict zones, through the relevant institutions and agencies of the UN system.
