On August 26-28, 2020, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine, the Association of Bast Crops of Kyrgyzstan took part in the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Innovations in hemp growing 2020" in the city of Glukhov.
During the conference, leading researchers from the Institute of Bast Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences spoke about the scientific achievements in seed production of industrial hemp, the cultivation of new monoecious varieties with a low content of tetrahydrocannabinol (non-drug variety) and the processing of this type of crop. Ukrainian specialists also demonstrated new varieties of industrial hemp that do not contain narcotic properties.
In the practical part of the conference, members of the Kyrgyz delegation got acquainted with seed crops, breeding developments, technologies for growing and harvesting industrial hemp in the field. Also, with the participation of specialists, master classes were shown on the manufacture of various materials and items from technical hemp.
Within the framework of the conference, the Kyrgyz company Intertex Group LLC and the Institute of Bast Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Cooperation, and an agreement was reached to open a Center for the development of industrial hemp seed production in Bishkek.
