On September 21, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ukraine Zhusupbek Sharipov held a meeting with a philanthropist and businessman, director of the Desnaland company specializing in the cultivation of flax and industrial hemp, Michel Tereshchenko.
Ambassador Zh. Sharipov informed that the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine, with the assistance of the Institute of Bast Crops of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, is actively studying the experience of Ukraine in the cultivation and processing of technical hemp for implementation in the conditions of the Kyrgyz Republic, and also asked the interlocutor to share his experience in this direction.
In turn, M. Tereshchenko informed about his activities, in particular, on the cultivation, use and further sale of technical hemp, and also assured his readiness to provide all kinds of assistance in the preparation of the legal framework for the introduction of technical hemp into the agricultural sector, to share experience in the cultivation of this culture on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
The parties agreed to direct joint efforts to expand cooperation in this direction.
M. Tereshchenko is a representative of the Ukrainian noble family of industrialists and patrons of the arts Tereshchenko. Michel's grandfather, Mikhail Tereshchenko (1888-1956), was the Minister of Finance of the Provisional Government of the Russian Empire. Michel's father, Pyotr Mikhailovich Tereshchenko (1919-2004), was a famous French scientist-chemist, developed technologies for the production of biofuel from rapeseed. M. Tereshchenko is the founder of the Tereshchenko Heritage Foundation, whose task is to support current activities in buildings built by representatives of the Tereshchenko clan in Kiev and Glukhov before the revolution.
