In Nur-Sultan the Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic D.Djumabekov has met with the chairman of the Majilisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan Shukurjon Zuhurov


September 23, 2019 in the frames of the fourth meeting of speakers of the parliaments of the countries of Eurasia in the city of Nur Sultan Toraga of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dastanbek Djumabekov met with the Chairman of the Majilisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, Shukurjon Zukhurov.

Toraga Dastanbek Djumabekov said at the meeting that he was glad of the opportunity to exchange views on pressing issues of developing friendly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. He assured that Kyrgyzstan attaches particular importance to the further development of friendly relations with Tajikistan on the basis of mutual trust and respect for each other's interests.

“One of the paramount tasks of the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is to preserve and enhance the invaluable legacy of strong friendships and inextricable brotherhoods, which we carried through many years of common history. I note that inter-parliamentary cooperation is of particular importance not only to maintain a constructive dialogue and exchange of experience, but also to achieve a greater degree of mutual understanding between our peoples, ”said Toraga.

Djumabekov emphasized the importance of maintaining the positive dynamics of bilateral meetings and visits of parliamentarians of the two countries.

Chairman of the Majilisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan, Shukurjon Zuhurov, in turn, noted that before that they had met more than once in the framework of various international events, and spoke about the importance of good neighborliness and cooperation. He believes that this practice should be continued.

“I can’t but mention the Tajik-Kyrgyz centuries-old good neighborliness, which requires us to continue our historical mission,” said Zukhurov. He also noted that cross-border issues need to be resolved as soon as possible, since further deepening of bilateral cooperation depends on this.

Speaking about cross-border issues, Toraga Jumabekov emphasized that on July 26 this year, for the first time in the history of our bilateral cooperation, a meeting of two heads of state on the line of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border took place. Dzhumabekov expressed hope that the meetings of the working groups of the government commissions of the two countries would help to find common ground on the description and mutual exchange of the remaining sections. This will help accelerate the delimitation process of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border.

Both sides came to the conclusion that legalization of the state border will allow states to focus their potential on deepening bilateral cooperation on a wide range, and will also contribute to ensuring stability and security on our borders and in the Central Asian region as a whole.
