On December 4, 2019, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Islamabad held an event dedicated to the importance of ecotourism and the conservation of the habitat of the snow leopard.
Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yemen, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Mauritius, Nepal, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka, as well as representatives of the Pakistan Snow Leopard Foundation and the Center for the Study of Central Asian Countries, Russia and China, Peshawar University participated at the event as guests of honor.
The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan HE Mr. E.Beishembiev in his speech noted that the problems of the deterioration of the global ecological environment attract more and more attention of the world community. Environmental issues have become one of the most important factors affecting international relations today. In this regard, in addition to the traditional diplomatic service, as well as economic and cultural diplomacy, Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to environmental diplomacy. The ambassador noted the efforts of Kyrgyzstan to preserve the snow leopard and its ecosystems. He also informed the participants about the tourism opportunities of the Kyrgyz Republic, in particular ecological tourism.
During the event, guests were presented with information on the joint activities of the Pakistan Snow Leopard Foundation and the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Pakistan in order to attract public attention to environmental problems.
A presentation and screening of a documentary on ecotourism also took place.
At the end of the event, the Ambassadors were solemnly presented with commemorative drawings dedicated to the conservation of the snow leopard from students of the Gilgit-Baltistan province school.
The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
