On March 9-12, 2020 the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic Bolot Otunbaev visited Ottawa to present his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Canada with residence in Washington, DC.

The credentials presentation ceremony was held on March 11, 2020 at the residence of the Governor General of Canada Julie Payette, where she emphasized the common commitment of the two countries to the principles of democracy and parliamentarism, and expressed hope for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and Canada.

Bolot Otunbaev assured the Canadian side of the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic to develop full bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Canada in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. During the meeting, the Canadian side was invited to focus on the economic component and expand areas of cooperation, not limited to the mining industry.

The sides also noted with satisfaction the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the framework of international organizations.
