On April 15, 2022 under the chairmanship of the Japanese side, the 8th Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the countries participating in the Dialogue «Central Asia – Japan» was held in the format of video conference.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev participated in the meeting.
The parties discussed current issues of cooperation within the framework of the dialogue platform for strengthening mutually beneficial partnership between Japan and Central Asian countries in such areas as combating COVID-19, international and regional security, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, exchanged views on the activities on the occasion of this year's celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations of Central Asia and Japan.
Minister R. Kazakbaev expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the timely assistance in the form of humanitarian assistance within the framework of the COVAX program of the World Health Organization, as well as gratuitous assistance through UNICEF aimed at improving the quality of education for children affected by a new type of coronavirus infection. He proposed to continue cooperation on the exchange of experience and knowledge of Japanese healthcare professionals.
As part of the Dialogue, it was also proposed to form working groups from among the participants of the Dialogue participating countries to prepare regional projects, including in the field of sustainable development, green economic growth and carbon neutrality, as well as environmental security in Central Asia.
In addition, in the anniversary year of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, R. Kazakbaev proposed to hold joint events, such as the exchange of mutual visits at high level, the organization of business forums and cultural cross days.
During the online meeting, the participants also discussed the timing of the 9th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Dialogue, which is planned to be held in person in Tokyo in 2022.
