On May 15, 2024 the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States and Canada Baktybek Amanbaev met with the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs of the US State Department, Ambassador Michelle J. Sison.

During the meeting the parties discussed current issues on increasing cooperation within the framework of multilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States.

Ambassador Amanbaev, outlining the significant role of the region in the current international agenda, announced the nomination of the Kyrgyz Republic candidacy for non-permanent membership of the Security Council for the period 2027-2028. During the meeting, the american side was informed by the main priorities of Kyrgyzstan in the UN Security Council.

In turn, the American side noted that the parties have good interaction in the UN missions in New York and Geneva.

At the end of the conversation parties confirmed their mutual intention to continue dialogue on a wide range of bilateral and multilateral relations.
