The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the 15th Summit of the OIC

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Moldogaziev, took part in the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on May 2-5, 2024 in Banjul (Gambia), which was held under the theme “Enhancing unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development".

Following the Summit, several documents were adopted, including the Banjul Declaration and Final communiqué, which, at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, included several points on international initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic, including on disarmament and mountain issues. With universal support, a separate paragraph of the Final communiqué included the OIC countries' support for the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for Non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council for the period 2027-2028.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs A. Moldogaziev noted the need to pursue an active policy in the modern system of international relations in order to consolidate forces to resolve crises and encourage social, economic and humanitarian initiatives. The head of the Kyrgyz delegation expressed concern about the current difficult geopolitical situation in the world. In this regard, he emphasized the importance of joint efforts to prevent the escalation of tensions and resolve conflicts through political and diplomatic means.

As part of promoting the candidacy of the Kyrgyz Republic for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council and strengthening bilateral relations, the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic held a number of bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of OIC countries.
