On April 25, 2024, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Asein Isaev took part in the Country Program Committee of the United Nations Development Program in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The member of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Dinara Ashimova and from the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic – the Head of the Department of Political and Economic Research Mr. Bakyt Sydykov took part in the Committee.

During the Committee, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Alexandra Solovеvа summed up the mission’s activities for 2023, presented the Committee with the main achievements and outlined priorities for the future sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan. The UNDP team presented four priority clusters of its activities in terms of sustainable economic development, climate change and the environment, good governance and social cohesion, as well as the health sector.

As part of the discussion representatives of the government sector, the diplomatic corps and international organizations, as well as the country’s expert community exchanged useful information, experience and recommendations for further UNDP activities in Kyrgyzstan.

Taking into account national interests and the real needs of the population, the First Deputy Minister recommended on UNDP focus its project activities on improving the social sphere of the country, the construction of social housing and facilities, the development of the Batken region and the infrastructure of mountain regions to ensure the population’s access to drinking water, electricity, healthcare, education and etc. Mr. Asein Isaev also called on UNDP to take a practical participation in the implementation of the program to combat poverty.

The parties assured that they will continue to create all opportunities for further deepening and expanding cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and UNDP based on mutual respect and mutual support.
