On April 30, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev had a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the Turkic Council (Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States) Baghdad Amreyev on the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.

During the conversation, Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev informed that the parties had reached an agreement on a ceasefire and that they intend to settle the situation by negotiations. He informed about the course of events on April 29, 2021 and the current state of affairs in the border regions of Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized the commitment of the Kyrgyz side to international bilateral obligations and agreements.

Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev expressed condolences to the families of the victims and wished prompt recovery for the wounded ones. He welcomed the signing of the Protocol on the settlement of the armed conflict in the border areas of the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan and other agreements reached on the peaceful settlement of the situation.

At the same time, Baghdad Amreyev especially noted the contribution of the Kyrgyz side to the re-establishment of peace, and also expressed the readiness to provide all kinds of assistance from the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States.

Also, Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev and Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev discussed topical issues within the Turkic Council, including the schedule of upcoming events at the highest and high levels.
