On June 11, 2020, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nuran Niyazaliev, took part in a videoconference meeting of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian states and Afghanistan, organized by the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA).

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues of peace and security in the Central Asian region in the context of the current global crisis caused by the COVID-2019 pandemic, as well as to promote regional cooperation in solving pressing problems.

First Deputy Minister N. Niyazaliev noted the country's foreign policy initiatives at the international and regional levels to attract assistance and overcome the consequences of the crisis. In particular, the meeting participants were informed about the initiative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.Sh. Jeenbekov to take urgent support measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, announced during the high-level virtual event on financing for development in the era of coronavirus on May 28, 2020. Particular attention is paid to easing the burden of external debt by exchanging it for projects in the field of ecology, green economy, healthcare, etc. In addition, they noted the importance of continuing the uncompromising struggle against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking both at the regional and international levels.
