On October 4, 2022, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the IRI as part of the promotion of economic diplomacy a meeting was held between the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the IRI T. Sydykov and the First Vice-President of the Iranian Railway Organization (RAI) Hossein Ashouri.
During the meeting the parties discussed ways of effective use of the transport and transit potential of the two countries by increasing freight traffic, transit of goods by rail between the Kyrgyz Republic and the IRI with the active use of the Iranian sea port Bandar Abbas.
The parties also considered the implementation of the agreements within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Iranian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the IRI in terms of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of railroads, including issues of transportation and transit of goods by rail.
