Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations at Geneva Omar Sultanov conducted consultations with the team of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on October 31 and November 1, 2023.

The consultations were held to discuss the details of the implementation of the arrangements reached during the meeting between the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Akylbek Zhaparov and the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development H.E.Mme. Rebeca Grynspan on 16 October 2023 in Abu-Dhabi (UAE) on the margins of the World Investment Forum.

The Permanent Representative O.Sultanov highlighted that the areas of development that have been mentioned during the meeting between the Heads of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and UNCTAD are of high priority for the Kyrgyz side.

UNCTAD briefed the Kyrgyz side about its technical potential in trade facilitation including through the digitalization of trade as well as the development of e-commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of the consultations two sides arranged to include the above-mentioned areas in the draft program of UNCTAD entitled «Transforming Trade and Development in the Kyrgyz Republic». In addition, this program will cover external debt management, creative economy, development of entrepreneurship, countering illicit financial flows, and sustainable mountain development.
