On March 8, 2024, Permanent Representative Omar Sultanov took part in a round table dedicated to “State Approaches Toward Individuals Suspected of Terrorist Affiliation and Their Families in Prisons and Camps in Northeast Syria”.

The round table was organized by the Nordic Center for Conflict Transformation (NCCT) and the Bulan Institute. The event was attended by a wide range of experts from states, international and non-governmental organizations.

During the event, a thorough exchange of views and experiences took place on the best practices in the repatriation, rehabilitation and reintegration of returnees from conflict zones in Syria and Iraq.

It is important to note that thanks to Kyrgyzstan’s accession to Swiss fund GCERF in 2023, $2.5 million was allocated for projects in this field.
