The event is a continuation of the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic and like-minded states to implement the eponymous HRC resolution dedicated to the protection and promotion of the rights of people working in rural areas.

The creation of the mentioned Working Group is the result of the efforts of the Kyrgyz side in establishing the UN mechanism that will allow constant monitoring of the situation in this field and ensure the protection of national interests on the international arena.

During the event, Ambassador Sultanov emphasized the importance of protecting the population living in rural mountainous areas, in accordance with the UN General Assembly resolution “Sustainable Mountain Development”, adopted at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan in 2022.
