Meeting of the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Mr. D. Mukashev with the new Head of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Mr. Daren Tang

On October 15, 2020, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Mr. D.Mukashev met with new Director-General of the Organization Mr. Daren Tang at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.

During the meeting, D. Mukashev congratulated Daren Tang on his election to the post of Director-General of WIPO and wished him all the successes in his work.

The parties discussed issues of further development of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and WIPO. D. Mukashev extended the appreciation to Mr. Daren Tang for Organization's support of the development of an ecosystem of innovations in Kyrgyzstan by creating an Innovation Centre under Kyrgyzpatent and expressed his hope that this work would continue, including the increase of the capacity of the staff of the Center and expansion of the activities to the country's regions.

The Permanent Representative informed the Director-General about the interest of Kyrgyzpatent in the joint work of the WIPO and the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) project for expanding the capabilities of technology parks aimed at commercialization of intellectual property Caucasus, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. D. Mukashev raised the issue of the importance of representation of citizens of Kyrgyzstan in the bodies of the Organization as well.

Daren Tang noted with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between WIPO and Kyrgyzstan and assured that the Organization would continue to assist strengthening the capacity of Kyrgyzpatent.

At the end of the meeting, Permanent Representative D. Mukashev presented to the General Director Darren Tang the Instrument of Ratification by the Kyrgyz Republic of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Eurasian Patent Convention dated September 9, 1994.
