On October 22, 2020, at the headquarters of the United Nations Office in Geneva (Switzerland), by the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Mr. Mukashev met with the Director of the UN Office in Geneva Mrs. Valovaya.

During the meeting, Mr. Mukashev informed Mrs. Valovaya about the current political situation in Kyrgyzstan; full-fledged functioning of all state institutions; events that took place in Kyrgyzstan after the parliamentary elections as well as the peaceful transfer of power in the country in accordance with the legislation.

Mr. Mukashev pointed out that at present Kyrgyzstan continues the legislative process to prepare the country for parliamentary and presidential elections.

The Permanent Representative assured the Director of the UN Office in Geneva that Kyrgyzstan remains fully committed to all its international obligations, including in the areas of the rule of law, protection and promotion of human rights and freedoms.

Mrs. Valovaya expressed her appreciation to Mr. Mukashev for initiating the meeting and providing detailed information on the current situation in Kyrgyzstan assuring that the UN will continue its comprehensive cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, as stated by the UN Secretary General's Special Representative Ms. Herman during her recent visit to Bishkek.

Mrs. Valovaya also stressed that the UN was interested in the speedy and successful implementation by the leadership of Kyrgyzstan of plans for the political transformation of the country based on the rule of law and protection of human rights and freedoms and expressed her readiness to provide maximum assistance in her capacity as Head of the UN Office in Geneva.
