Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Mr. Daniiar Mukashev met with Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Mr. QU Dongyu in the format of videoconference

On 6 November 2020 at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Mr. Daniiar Mukashev met with Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Mr. QU Dongyu in the format of videoconference. 
During the videoconference Mr. Mukashev informed Mr. QU Dongyu about the current political situation in the country, forthcoming electoral processes in the country, as well as about the plans of the new leadership of Kyrgyzstan to reform the country. The Permanent Representative assured the Director-General of FAO that Kyrgyzstan remains committed to all its international obligations.    
Mr. QU Dongyu expressed his appreciation to Mr. Mukashev for initiating this videoconference and information on ongoing political processes in Kyrgyzstan and assured that FAO was ready to and interested in continuing rendering full support to the country within its mandate, namely in the field of food security and poverty alleviation, especially in rural areas.        
Mr. QU Dongyu emphasized the importance of genuine internal political stability that should and may pave the way for reforms and subsequent long-run development, including in the agricultural sector of the country.    
They also discussed in productive way all the issues related to support of food security of Kyrgyzstan by FAO, especially amid the Covid pandemic, continued work on the host country agreement between Kyrgyzstan and FAO and the project of the Green Climate Fund “Increasing carbon sequestration in Kyrgyzstan by supporting climate investments in forests and rangelands”, as well as the program of technical support and possibility of working out a long-term strategy of development of agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan. 
The sides agreed to continue the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and FAO in advancing the issues of today’s agenda.
