Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zh.Kulubaev

On October 12, 2023, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states was held in Bishkek, chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zh. Kulubaev. This is the second meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers this year within the framework of the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Commonwealth.

The heads of delegations, during an exchange of views on current issues on the international agenda, discussed the state and prospects of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction in the CIS format.

Minister Zh. Kulubaev noted in his speech that one of the key achievements of the CIS is the preservation of trusting political relations with an eye to further integration. He noted that, as part of his chairmanship, the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic were aimed at further developing thirty years of experience in the functioning of the Commonwealth and building up multilateral cooperation of the participating states at the present stage.

Much attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the participating states.

Particular emphasis is placed on preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is an important date for the peoples of the Commonwealth.

Issues in the field of interregional cooperation, security issues, the fight against international terrorism and organized crime were also discussed.

At the meeting, the Agreement on the formation of the International Center for Assessing the Risks of Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime and the Financing of Terrorism, the Agreement on the Formation of the Coordination Council of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the field of forensic activities, as well as the Interstate Program of Joint Combating Measures were approved. with crime for 2024–2028 for subsequent submission to the Heads of State for signature. The Treaty on the Establishment of the International Organization for the Russian Language was also agreed upon.

A decision was made to hold the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS on April 12, 2024 in Minsk.
