History of the Embassy

In December 1991, the Republic of Korea recognized the state independence of Kyrgyzstan. In January 1992, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations.

In September 2007, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea opened in Bishkek, and in October 2008, the First Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea began his duties. In June 2008, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Korea was opened, and in October 2008, the First Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Korea was appointed.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Kyrgyz and South Korean relations have been developing consistently. During this period, the Parties managed to create favorable conditions for the stable development of relations in all directions. Kyrgyzstan considers South Korea as one of its important and priority partners in the Asian region and is interested in further developing friendship relations and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with the Republic of Korea.
