Cultural and humanitarian cooperation

Through the organization of various events, the Embassy carries out work to promote national values and traditions, including historical figures of Kyrgyzstan.

One of the landmark events held by the Embassy together with local authorities over the past two years is the installation of a monument to Chyngyz Aitmatov in the park in the Kechioren municipality of Ankara. The official opening of the monument took place on December 12, 2019 - on the writer's birthday.

On August 31, 2021, in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, on the main square of the Kecioren municipality of Ankara, the opening ceremony of the monument to the hero of the Kyrgyz epic Manas took place, during which President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov and Speaker of Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop made video messages and conveyed their congratulations on this occasion.

On October 1, 2021, in the Park of Turkic History in Etimesgut municipality of Ankara, the inauguration of the monument to the first Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic Zhusup Abdrakhmanov took place.

On February 1, 2020, the Embassy with the Associatıon for Local Thought organized the Commemorative event called “The First General Woman of Asia” dedicated to the historical woman Kurmanjan Datka in the building of Turkish Historical Society in Ankara.

As a result of the agreement reached with the Head of the Municipality of Cubuk in Ankara, regarding the opening of a park named after Kurmanjan Datka in the municipality with the establishment of her monument, work on the creation of the park has now begun and is being actively carried out.

Cooperation in the cultural sphere is implemented both at the bilateral level and within the framework of the international organization TURKSOY. Over the past two years, a number of events was held, in particular, the opening ceremony of the Year "Osh - Cultural Capital of the Turkic World-2019", commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Suimonkul Chokmorov, the 75th anniversary of Tattybubu Tursunbaeva, the 70th anniversary of Cholponkul Bazarbaev, the 70th anniversary of the writer Asan Zhakshylykov and the 80th anniversary of film director Bolot Shamshiev.


An important issue of humanitarian cooperation is free treatment of 150 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic per year in hospitals of Turkey under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medical Sciences. In connection with the coronavirus COVID-19, in February 2020, the Turkish side temporarily suspended the implementation of this Agreement.

One of the main areas of cooperation is education. Within the framework of this cooperation, 1649 students, both on a budgetary and on a private basis, and 19 cadets are studying at the universities of Turkey. For the 2021-2022 academic year, 1048 Turkish citizens are studying at the universities of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In order to implement the tasks of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Embassy on a regular basis keeps in touch with students from the Kyrgyz Republic and the Turkish siderepresented by Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the TR (YTB) and universities.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Embassy prepared and organized a photo exhibition in the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Turkey with participation of heads of two states, within the framework of the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Turkey (09.06.2021), in the parliament of Turkey with participation of Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Sureyya Sadi Bilgic (23.06.2021), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey with participation of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Yavuz Selim Kıran (06.07.2021), in the art gallery "Zafer" with the participation of Vice-Mayor of Ankara Sercan Cıggın (23.08.21), in the Nation Library located inside the Presidential complex with the participation of the First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdogan, General Director of the General Directorate of the Turkish President Office Mahmut Kazan and the Head of the Library Ayhan Tuglu (06.09.21), in the building of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) with the participation of the Head of the Union Rifat Hisarcıklıoglu (30.09.21) and in Gazi University (05.11.21). The exhibition featured photo-paintings depicting historical sights, landscapes of the country, national sports that reflect the ancient history, rich culture, picturesque nature and traditional life of Kyrgyzstan.

On the initiative and with the active participation of the Embassy, a special edition of the magazine "Yerli Düşünce" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic has been published. It contains of articles by Vice-President of Turkey Fuat Oktay, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Senior Adviser to the President of Turkey Yalchyn Topchu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Rifat Hisarciklioglu, member of Turkish parliament and Head of Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Turkey Sabri Ozturk, member of Turkish parliament Metin Gundogdu, Rector of Kyrygz Turkish University "Manas"  Prof. Alpaslan Ceylan and Rector of Ankara University  Prof. Necdet Unuvar, Prof. Hülya Kasapoğlu, Prof. Nurullah Çetin, Prof. Hayrettin Ivgin, Orhan Söylemez, Oğuzhan Akyener. Articles were written about bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, the ancient history of the country and its rich culture, the Manas epic and prominent personalities, as well as contain the information about the tourism potential and investment opportunities of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agreement reached with the leadership of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), on August 31, 2021, the two high rise twin buildings of the Union in the center of Ankara were painted in the colors of the flag of Kyrgyzstan. On the same day, in honor of the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, launched a hot air balloon with the flag of the Kyrgyz Republic, after which the flag was hung on the historic Uchisar fortress in Cappadocia, which is one of the most famous tourist regions of Turkey.
