Diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan were established on May 10, 1992.

Mr. Totuiaev Ulanbek was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary on 2 July 2021.

Since establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan, a number of mutual visits at high level were held:

To Pakistan:

1. Official visits of the Presidents of the Kyrgyz Republic - 1994 and 2005;
2. Working visit of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Apas Djumagulov - 1997;
3. Official visit of the Chairman of the Council of Peoples Representatives of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Altai Borubaev - 2004;
4. Official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev - February 26, 2015.
5. Working visit of the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov – participation in 13^th ECO Summit on March 1, 2017.
6. Official visit of the Parliamentary Delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Chynybai Tursunbekov - March 13-15, 2017.
7. Official visit of Head of General Staff of Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic Major General Raimberdi Duishenbiev – March 12-15, 2018.

To Kyrgyzstan:

1. Official visits of Presidents of Pakistan: Farooq Leghari in 1996 and Pervez Musharraf in 2005;
2. Official visits of Prime Ministers of Pakistan: Benazir Bhutto in 1995, Yousaf Raza Gillani in 2011, and Nawaz Sharif in 2015.
3. Working visit of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi to Kyrgyzstan to take part in a meeting of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers on May 22, 2019;
4. Working visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to take part in the Meeting of SCO Heads of States Council on June 14, 2019;

First political consultations at Deputy Foreign Ministers level to discuss bilateral relations and perspectives of future cooperation took place in Bishkek on January 23-24, 2018. The agenda of the meeting included political, parliamentary, trade, economic and cultural cooperation, regional security, and interaction in regional and international organizations, consular affairs.

Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev and Pakistan Khawaja Asif met in Tashkent on March 28, 2018 on sidelines of the International Conference on Afghanistan «Peaceful processes, security and regional interaction». The parties discussed further development of cooperation, exchanged views on current international issues.

Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited the Kyrgyz Republic on May 22, 2019 to take part in the Meeting of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers and had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov. The parties discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional security and Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan took part in the Meeting of SCO Heads of States Council in Bishkek on June 13-14, 2019 and met with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov. The discussion covered topics of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the countries, including in international organizations.

As part of inter-parliamentary cooperation, in 2019 following contacts and meetings took place: Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastanbek Jumabekov met with Ambassador of Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan Faisal Tirmizi (on February 13); Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan Erik Beishembiev met with Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani (on February 8), Coordinator of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Parliamentary Friendship Group in National Assembly of Pakistan Dr. Seemi Bukhari (on November 6) and with Speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan Asad Qaiser (on November 22).
On April 19, 2021, a briefing for the media was organized at the Embassy on the topic: "The current domestic political situation and the socio-economic situation in the Kyrgyz Republic."
On August 9, 2021, Ambassador U.Totuiaev presented copies of Credentials to the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan A.Kh. Altaf.
On October 13, 2021, Ambassador U.Totuiaev met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan A.Kaiser.
On October 21-22, 2021, in Islamabad, Ambassador U.Totuiaev took part in the meetings of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic T. Masadykov with the National Security Adviser of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the rank of Federal Minister M. Yusuf and with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan S.Mahmood.
On December 1, 2021, Ambassador U.Totuiaev met with the Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan S. Sanjrani.
On December 18-19, 2021, the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Artykbaev took part in the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

In the period from 7 to 11 February, 2022 K. Aidaraliev, Commander of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, visited the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in order to establish contacts and further promote cooperation in the military-technical sphere.

On March 22-23, 2022 the 48th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OIC member countries was held, which was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic R. Kazakbaev. Within the framework of this visit, bilateral meetings of the Minister R. Kazakbaev with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of tPakistan S.M.Qureshi, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan S.Sanjrani and Chief of the Army Staff, Pakistan Army Q.J.Bajwa.

On April 1, 2022, Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic M. Imankulov took part in the international conference "Islamabad Security Dialogue", held in the format of videoconferencing.

On April 11-12, 2022 the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic T. Masadykov visited Pakistan, during which meetings were held with the General Director for the Analysis of the Interdepartmental Intelligence Service ofPakistan, Major General Sh. Khattak, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan M.A.A. Qureshi and the Deputy Chairman of Senate of Pakistan M.M.Afridi.

On July 29, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as part of his participation in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO Member States.

On August 18, 2022, in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan the 2nd political consultations were held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the level of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Aibek Artykbaev and the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Aamir Aftab Qureshi.

On September 15, 2022, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif as part of his participation in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States.

On May 5, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as part of his participation in the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO Member States.

On May 10-11, 2023, at the international conference "Islamabad Security Dialogue" a video message from the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. M.Imankulov was presented.
