Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS under the chairmanship of the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zh.Kulubaev

On October 12, 2023, a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS member states was held in Bishkek under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zh.Kulubaev. This is the second meeting of the CIS Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs in this year within the framework of the Kyrgyz Republic's chairmanship in the Commonwealth.

During the exchange of views on topical issues on the international agenda, the heads of delegations discussed the status and prospects of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the CIS format.

Minister Zh.Kulubaev noted in his speech that one of the key achievements of the CIS is the preservation of trusting political relations with a view for further integration. He noted that within the framework of its presidency, the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic were aimed at further developing the thirty-year experience of the Commonwealth and building up multilateral cooperation of the member states at the present stage.

Significant attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation of the participating States.

The participants made special emphasis on the preparation for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War - an important date for the people of the Commonwealth.

The parties also considered issues in the sphere of interregional cooperation, security, combating international terrorism and organized crime.

During the meeting, the following documents were approved for subsequent submission for signing to the Heads of State: the Agreement on the Establishment of the International Center for Assessing the Risks of Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds of Crime and Terrorism Financing, the Agreement on the Establishment of the Coordination Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the Field of Forensic Expert Activity, as well as the Interstate Program of Joint Measures for Combating Crimes for 2024-2028. The Treaty on the Establishment of the International Organization on the Russian Language was also agreed upon.

It was decided to hold the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers on April 12, 2024 in Minsk.
