The Special Envoy of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic for the implementation of the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions" ("Five Years of action") Nurlan Aitmurzaev, as part of his visit to New York to present the concept of this initiative, met with the Representative and Head of the Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO ) in New York by Ralf Bredel, Head of the Office of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Chantal Carpentier, and Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the UN Doma Tshering.

During the meeting, the Special Envoy informed in detail about the “Five Years of action” concept, which contains a set of mountain initiatives of Kyrgyzstan aimed at strengthening cooperation between mountainous countries, improving the well-being of their peoples, and protecting mountain ecosystems. He called on the representatives of UNCTAD and UNIDO to take part in the “Five Years of action” through the implementation of projects and programs in the mountainous regions in the field of trade development, improvement of transport and logistics infrastructure, energy, the attraction of investments, transfer of technologies and innovations. The Permanent Representative of Bhutan is requested to jointly promote the initiative as well as the draft resolution to declare 2023-2027 as these " Five Years of action ".

For their part, the interlocutors expressed their readiness to consider the proposals of the Kyrgyz side for further practical implementation.
