On May 4, 2022, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations in New York Aida Kasymalieva took part in a High-level Thematic Debate on «Sustainable tourism based on inclusive recovery».

Thematic debates were organized on the initiative of the President of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid with the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Secretary-General of UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili, as well as heads of state bodies of member states on tourism attended this event.

There was an informative discussion in the format of «Fireside Chat», which provided an opportunity for discussion between key subjects in the field of tourism.

The Permanent Representative in her statement informed that Kyrgyzstan, as a mountainous country, has a rich natural and ecological potential for the development of domestic and international tourism. At the same time, she noted that the tourism sector of the country faces many problems, which were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, and outlined key directions in resolving these problems.

During the meeting was held a meeting of the Permanent Representative Aida Kasymalieva with the Secretary-General of UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili, which included an exchange of views in the tourist field.
