On April 6 of this year, Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations in New York Aida Kasymalieva met with the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations H.E. Mr. C.V. Kelapile. The UN ECOSOC, along with the General Assembly and the Security Council, is also one of the UN Charter bodies.

During the meeting, ECOSOC President C.V. Kelapile congratulated our country and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the conclusion of a peace settlement between the Kyrgyz Republic and Centerra Gold Inc. on the Kumtor mine and the settlement of the issue within the framework of international law.

He noted the importance of resolving the dispute peacefully to ensure a favorable investment climate, as well as the further achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

ECOSOC President C.V. Kelapile also expressed readiness to provide further assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of the mandate of the UN Economic and Social Council.
