The Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with the Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana

On July 12, 2022, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva met with the Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana. During the conversation they exchanged views on progress towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Executive Secretary informed about the priority areas of cooperation between ESCAP and Kyrgyzstan, such as clean energy, statistics, and public health.

In turn, the Permanent Representative reported on the ongoing work of the country in the field of social development and education, energy, gender policy, as well as national and international initiatives of the country on environmental protection. In particular, she informed that Kyrgyzstan is committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement and is positively disposed to participate in the campaign to curb climate change. She also stressed that Kyrgyzstan has committed itself to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 44% by 2030 and will exceed the level of carbon neutrality by 2050.
