On December 13, 2022, diplomatic relations were established between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Rwanda.

The Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations was signed in New York by the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Rwanda to the UN Claver Gatete.

The text of the Joint Communiqué notes that the States have established diplomatic relations guided by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the respect and promotion of international peace and security, equality among States, due respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, independence, international treaties and non-interference in the internal affairs of States.

After the signing ceremony of the Joint Communiqué, the parties expressed a mutual intention to develop relations of friendship and cooperation between the States within the framework of the UN and other international organizations, and provide mutual support to candidates for elections to UN bodies this year.
