The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic is participating in the work of the 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women

In the city of New York (USA), the 67th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women is being held at the UN Headquarters under the priority theme "Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls." The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by Deputy Minister of Labour, social welfare and migration Mrs. Zhyldyz Polotova is participating in the work of the session.

At the general discussions, the head of the delegation noted the achievements and directions of the country's digital transformation outlined in the national strategies, including the use of IT technologies as part of the digitalization process and adaptation measures to climate change as the main tools for empowering women and girls.

“Today, the Kyrgyz Republic is in the process of active digitalization of the economy, management system, education and social sphere. President Sadyr Japarov's initiatives to develop a green, digital and creative economy demonstrate a strong commitment in removing barriers to bridging the digital divide and advancing gender equality in the digital age,” said Zhyldyz Polotova.

Deputy Minister of Education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic Toktobubu Ashymbaeva noted the best practices in the development of education in the digital age and suggested ways to cooperate with development partners.

In the side-events of this session, the members of the Jogorku Kenesh Sharapatkan Mazhitova, Aisarakan Abdibaeva and Dinara Ashimova spoke about the achievements in the gender legislation of the country and the intentions of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic in said fields. It was noted that there is a need to increase attention and investment in the development of new digital opportunities for women and girls in mountain regions, who are key actors in the economic, environmental and social changes required for sustainable development.

Also on these topics, presentations by students of the Osh Technological University were held in a virtual format, which interested representatives of a number of countries.
