The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic is participating in the UN 2023 Water Conference

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, consisting of representatives of the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, is participating in the UN 2023 Water Conference, which takes place on March 22-24, 2023, at the UN headquarters in New York.

March 22 this year within the framework of the Conference, the Kyrgyz Republic with Italy, UNESCO, the Mountain Partnership, UN-Water, and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, held a side event on the topic: “Partnerships and cooperation for water: the main findings of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2023 and experiences from the countries”.

During this side event, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Anvar Anarbaev made a relevant statement. In his speech, he indicated that Kyrgyzstan always stands for cooperation and believes that issues of the use of water resources can and should be resolved only through an open and constructive dialogue with mutual consideration of the interests of states.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic also noted that the recognition and calculation of the value of water resources, and its consideration in decision-making is extremely important for managing water resources in a sustainable and equitable manner.

The Kyrgyz delegation also took part in various events, including an interactive dialogue on the topic: “Water for Sustainable Development: Valuing Water, Water-Energy-Food Nexus and Sustainable Economic and Urban Development”, side events: “From Art to Action: Transforming Desert to Forest for the Revival of the Aral Sea Region”, “Adopting the Water-Energy-Food-Environment Nexus for a water-wise energy transition”.
