On May 16, 2023, the debates of the UN General Assembly were held on agenda item 61 “Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation of Central Asia”. During the debates, representatives of the UN member states, emphasizing the importance of the Central Asian region for the international security architecture, drew attention to the current challenges that Central Asian countries are facing and discussed ways to achieve stable economic growth and social development.

Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN Aida Kasymalieva noted in her speech that today's discussions contribute to the ongoing efforts of the UN member states to maintain international peace, security, and the development of multilateralism. The important results of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held in July last year in Cholpon-Ata, were emphasized.

In addition, A. Kasymalieva informed the UN member states about the priorities of Kyrgyzstan on disarmament and non-proliferation issues, the implementation of the Five-years of action for the development of mountain regions, as well as the plans of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the development of green economy, hydropower and the implementation of international infrastructure projects.
