UN Security Council met on Afghanistan

On June 21, 2023, a meeting on Afghanistan was held at the UN Security Council. In her statement Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Aida Kasymalieva underlined that the Kyrgyz Republic is interested in a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, ready to develop good neighborly relations and lend a helping hand to the Afghan people. In addition, the importance of integrating the Afghan economy into regional processes was noted, including the implementation of the CASA-1000 project for the export of electricity through Afghanistan to the countries of South Asia.

The meeting was also attended by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Roza Otunbayeva, who informed the members of the Council about the situation in that country.
