Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Tajik part of the Intergovernmental Commissions on the comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues and on the delimitation and demarcation of the State Border

As part of a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev met with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Tajik part of the Intergovernmental Commissions on the comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues and on the delimitation and demarcation of the State Border H.E. Davlatshokh Gulmakhmadzoda.

H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev briefly informed the interlocutor about the internal political processes taking place in the country. The Tajik side was informed of the position that the Kyrgyz Republic is fully committed to all its international obligations and strict implementation of all previously signed treaties and agreements. An exchange of views took place on the most important aspects of bilateral cooperation, including the development of relations between the two states in the trade and economic, water and energy, transport and communication and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev stressed the importance of stepping up the work of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on the comprehensive consideration of bilateral issues and announced the possibility of holding the next 17th meeting of the IGC in the first quarter of 2021 in Bishkek.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan announced the interest of the Tajik side in the export of early agricultural products to Kazakhstan and Russia in transit through the territory of Kyrgyzstan. H.E. Davlatshokh Gulmakhmadzoda separately noted the priority of developing cooperation in the field of animal husbandry and crop production between the relevant ministries, as well as promoting joint projects within the framework of the World Climate Fund.

In addition, the sides discussed the interaction of the two states to resolve issues of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik State Border and joint measures to preserve peace and stability in the border regions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. A unanimous opinion was expressed on the importance of holding intensive meetings of the working groups of the Parties in order to describe the remaining sections of the Kyrgyz-Tajik State Border as soon as possible.

Following the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the existing fraternal relations between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will continue to serve as the basis for further strengthening partnership and good-neighborliness.
