Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan

On November 19, 2020, within the framework of the working visit to Tajikistan the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin in a narrow and expanded format.

H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev briefly informed about the development of the internal political situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Foreign Ministers discussed a wide range of topical issues of Kyrgyz-Tajik bilateral relations, prospects for further development of cooperation in the political, trade-economic, water-energy and cultural-humanitarian spheres. They agreed to intensify the work of the Parties within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission for the Comprehensive Consideration of Bilateral Issues, the 17th regular meeting of which is planned to be held in 2021 in Bishkek.

At the suggestion of H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev, the Ministers reached agreements on working out the issue of creating a Business Council of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as joint ventures on the territory of border regions. In order to develop transport cooperation between the states, H.E. Mr. Sirojiddin Mukhriddin proposed to organize online consultations between representatives of the aviation departments of the two countries. In order to implement the agreements reached during the visit, the sides agreed to develop in a short time Program of step-by-step measures (Roadmap) to address bilateral topical issues.

Following the talks, a Program of Cooperation was signed between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2022.
