Regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CSTO

On December 1, 2020, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CSTO via video conferencing.

In turn, H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev thanked the CSTO member states for the support provided to the Kyrgyz Republic in the fight against the spread of coronavirus and noted the need for further mutual assistance of partners. The Kyrgyz side reaffirmed the importance of developing cooperation within the CSTO in the field of biological safety in order to ensure the health and well-being of citizens of the Organization's member states.

The Ministers discussed a wide range of issues that have a negative impact on the situation in the regions located in the immediate vicinity of the CSTO zone of responsibility and stressed their readiness for close coordination in responding to security challenges and threats. The sides also discussed further steps to strengthen the interaction of the CSTO with international organizations, primarily with the CIS and the SCO in all areas of mutual interest.

Within the framework of the meeting, the CSTO Secretary General HE. Mr. S. Zas informed the CFM members about the work done and the results achieved during the inter-sessional period.

The parties stressed the successful implementation of the priorities of the Russian chairmanship, noting the important role of Russia in making the Organization an authoritative security structure.

As a result of the meeting, draft decisions on the further development of political interaction of the CSTO member states, improvement of military cooperation, the training system, financial, economic and personnel support of the Organization's activities were approved, which were submitted for consideration by the heads of state within the framework of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, scheduled for 2 December this year in the video conferencing mode.

In addition, the Joint Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CSTO member states was adopted on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, as well as the draft CSTO Declaration of Collective Security and the Statement of the Collective Security Council on the formation of just and sustainable world order, the last of which is a joint initiative Kyrgyz and Russian sides.
