Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain and Chargé d' Affaires of France

On December 17, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain H.E. Mr. Charles Garrett and Chargé d' Affaires of France Mr. Francois Delaus.

The sides discussed the preparation for the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-26), which will be held from November 1 to 12, 2021 in Glasgow, Great Britain. H.E. Mr. Charles Garrett informed H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev about the results of the online summit of climate ambitions, which took place on December 12, 2020 under the chairmanship of British Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Boris Johnson, President of France H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Giuseppe Conte, Chilean President H.E. Mr. Sebastian Piñera and UN Secretary-General H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres.

H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev informed the Ambassador of Great Britain H.E. Mr. Charles Garrett and Chargé d' Affaires of France Mr. Francois Delaus about the work carried out in Kyrgyzstan aimed at the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement, ratified by the Kyrgyz Republic in November 2019. In addition, H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev thanked the British side for the support provided in matters of ecology and climate change. In particular, the Kyrgyz side positively noted the offer of the British side and UNDP to participate in a regional project aimed at providing assistance to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to strengthen climate policy and actions on the eve of COP-26.

H.E. Mr. Ruslan A. Kazakbayev also noted the importance of holding the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-26) in November 2021 in Glasgow, during which new ambitious emission reduction targets may be set for greenhouse gases, climate change adaptation and climate finance.
