Useful tips for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic arriving in the UAE

• Before departure, make sure that the basic information is correctly recorded in your passport (full name, date of birth, gender, passport validity period), if the passport is new. The passport should not be damaged and should not have stains and extraneous records. When abroad, you should keep your passport with you and not give it to an unauthorized person for safekeeping or as a pledge.
• Upon arrival in the UAE, it is recommended to make color photocopies of all identity documents and store them in a safe place separate from the originals. In case of loss of a general passport, the presence of copies of a general passport, passport ID, military ID or driver's license will speed up the identification of the person and getting a certificate of return to the Kyrgyz Republic. It is advisable to always carry documents or their photocopies with you, as police can check your documents in public places.
• Particular attention should be paid to the correct execution of health insurance, in case the state of entry requires this document. It is necessary to choose a proven agency when obtaining an insurance policy and find out which medical insurance services should be provided to the UAE, and how they are paid. Careless attitude to the health insurance can result in large expenses in case of illness or accident.
• In case of chronic diseases, it is recommended to consult with the attending physician in advance in order to prevent exacerbations of the disease when visiting the UAE. It should be noted that most types of health insurance cover only for accidents and sudden illnesses that are not of a chronic nature. In case of exacerbation of a chronic disease, medical insurance will not help. The cost of treatment abroad should be paid independently.
• Citizens of any nationality who enter the country should undergo an eye control in accordance with the UAE rules.
• In accordance with international conventions, the competent authorities of a foreign state have the right to refuse entry into the country to any person, with or without indicating the reasons.
• For staying in the country after the visa expiration and not leaving the UAE in due time, fines are imposed:
  • for the first day of delay – 200 UAE dirhams ($54);
  • for the second and each subsequent day – 100 UAE dirhams ($28).

In this case, you will bear all expenses yourself.

• Citizens under the age of 16 accompanied by adults authorized by both parents should leave the Kyrgyz Republic by a notarized consent of both parents indicating the country and period of travel.
• The importation of drugs is prohibited (use and distribution of them is punishable by death), drugs containing narcotic substances, weapons, video and printed materials of erotic (pornographic) content, as well as materials that may offend Muslim religious feelings or are perceived as unfriendly to the state. All imported video materials can be checked at the customs control and returned only after viewing them.
• In the UAE, the norms and rules of behavior of foreigners are observed very strictly, and persons who violate some of them can be fined a fairly large amount. There are especially many restrictions in the Emirate of Sharjah, characterized by the most stringent rules.
• It is forbidden to share the same hotel room by a young not married couple. The rules of tourist behavior in the UAE also prohibit men and women to show their feelings in public, kissing and hugging. According to the law of the country, the cohabitation of unmarried men and women is also prohibited.
• Clothing should be modest. It is forbidden to walk in shorts and with bare shoulders in public places. Men cannot appear with a naked torso in shopping centers and in the streets, and women with a bare stomach and back. It is forbidden to appear nude or topless at the beaches.
• In accordance with the law of the Emirate of Sharjah, women should wear clothes covering their arms, neck and knees. In Sharjah, women are not allowed to wear bathing suits at municipal beaches.
• Drinking alcohol is prohibited, but rules are eased for foreigners in the UAE. Sharjah is the only emirate where alcohol is completely banned. Being intoxicated in a public places is strictly punishable and threatens with a large fine or arrest and deportation. Taking alcohol out can be considered by the police as a sale and severely punished. If you offered alcoholic beverages in any urban bar or restaurant, it is advisable to inquire if a person has a license to sell alcoholic beverages. In case of its absence, not only the bar, but also the visitor himself can be fined.
• Drunk driving is considered a grave violation and is punishable by a large fine up to imprisonment.
• Photographing government offices, palaces of sheikhs, military facilities and structures is strictly prohibited. You cannot take pictures of local women, and you should ask permission to take pictures of men.
• Excessive attention to a woman (as well as actions that can be considered as such) can lead to the payment of a huge fine.
• Foul language in a public place or uttering threats to the interlocutor (even rhetorical) is strictly prosecuted.
• The customs of the holy month of Ramadan are especially strictly observed. Muslims observe fasting and refrain from eating, drinking and smoking during the daytime. Therefore, guests should also refrain from this (including chewing gum) in public places before sunset. Tourists living in hotels have breakfast and lunch at their usual time.
• In case of unforeseen situations related to the detention by local law enforcement bodies, threats from other persons, traffic accidents, etc., you should immediately inform the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Dubai. It is recommended not to sign any protocols and other documents in a foreign language in the absence of a lawyer / consular officer of a diplomatic institution of the Kyrgyz Republic in the host country, since the signed papers can be used as the basis for the charge of the offense.
