Political collaboration

Diplomatic relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States were established on December 27, 1991. The United States was among the first countries to recognize the independence of Kyrgyzstan.

The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan to the United States was opened in 1992. The same year saw the opening of the U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, which was one of the first foreign diplomatic missions in the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia.

Since Kyrgyzstan’s independence, bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and the United States have developed in the spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and desire to promote closer ties in the political, trade and economic, scientific and technological, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The United States highly values Kyrgyzstan's leadership in promoting democracy, welcoming the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic in holding free and fair parliamentary elections in 2015 and presidential elections in 2017.

Kyrgyzstan and the United States are making efforts to develop and strengthen cooperation within multilateral platforms such as the UN, OSCE, C5+1, TIFA, WTO and others.

Kyrgyz Republic and Canada: Cooperation overview

Diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Canada were established on February 17, 1992. Kyrgyzstan is represented in Canada by the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Washington, DC. Canada is represented in Kyrgyzstan by the Embassy of Canada in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Canada is an important partner of Kyrgyzstan, given the shared principles of both countries of maintaining democratic development and freedom, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all segments and categories of the population, including gender equality, tolerance, respect for freedom of religion and diversity of cultures.

Canada highly values Kyrgyzstan's leadership in promoting democracy, welcoming the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic in holding free and fair parliamentary elections in 2015 and presidential elections in 2017.

Kyrgyzstan and Canada are making efforts to develop and strengthen cooperation both on a bilateral and multilateral basis.

Held on June 12, 2018 in Ottawa, Canada, the first in the history of Kyrgyz-Canadian relations, consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, have become an important basis for deepening cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
