Craftswomen from the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic participate in the largest craft festival in India

From March 19 to April 4, 2022, the annual 35th International Festival of Traditional Crafts "Surajkund Mela" is being held in Faridabad, Haryana (India).

The idea of the festival is to present all the variety of rural original crafts and folk dances of the world.

The festival is also held to popularize national handmade souvenirs. Gifted and highly skilled artisans from all over India and abroad showcase the rich tradition of the craft in a typical village setting.

This year, in addition to the states of India, representatives from more than 40 countries of the world also participate in the festival.

With the assistance of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in India, this year Kyrgyzstan is represented at the festival by artisans: Nuria Isakova from the Talas region, Taalaikan Aalieva from the Naryn region, Shakirova Gulsun, Zhusupalieva Maksat and Oskonbayeva Salia from the Jalal-Abad region, as well as Shakirova Khabibakhan from the Batken region. Kyrgyz artisans presented products in the form of national clothes and household items, as well as agricultural products in the form of dried fruits and honey.

The pavilion of Kyrgyzstan is popular with local residents and guests from other countries.
