Trade and Economic Cooperation

Since gaining independence, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan have signed main economic agreements: on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and capital (Bishkek, May 6, 1998), on the principles of levying indirect taxes on exports and imports of goods (works, services) (Bishkek, May 6, 1998), free trade (Bishkek, January 19, 2000), encouragement and mutual protection of investments (Bishkek, January 19, 2000).

The trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan in January-December 2021 amounted to 27.9 million US dollars (37.3 million US dollars for the same period last year).  Imports from Tajikistan amounted to 4.1 million USD (in 2020 9.2 million USD), and exports amounted to 23.8 million USD (in 2020 28.1 million USD)  .

In January-March 2022, the trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan amounted to 0.94 million US dollars (12.76 million US dollars for the same period last year).  Imports from Tajikistan amounted to 0.28 million USD (in 2021, 2 million USD), and exports amounted to 0.66 million USD (in 2021, 10.76 million USD).

Main export items: live animals, various foodstuffs, coal, oil products, cement and other various finished products.

Main import articles: electricity, glass, raw silk, cotton yarn, non-ferrous metals (aluminum).

To date, 16 meetings of the IPC have been held.  The first meeting of the IPC was held on November 5, 1997 in Osh.  The last 16th meeting was held on March 18-19, 2018 in Dushanbe under the chairmanship of the Vice Prime Ministers of the two countries.
