Born April 18, 1962, Osh city, Kyrgyzstan.

 

Education:

1979-84      student, faculty of history, Moscow State University

1984-85      applicant, lecturer trainee, American Studies, Moscow State University

1985-89      post-graduate student American Studies, faculty of history, Moscow State University

1989          defended Ph.D. thesis "The Conservative Coalition in the US Congress during the presidency of D. Eisenhower (1953-1960)"

 

Career:

1989           Lecturer in the Department of Modern and Contemporary History, faculty of history, Kyrgyz State University;

1991           Expert, Department of Foreign Relations, Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic;

1991           Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic;

1991           1st Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the USSR to the International Organizations in Vienna;

1991           1st Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the International Organizations in Vienna;

1993           Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the CSCE/OSCE and the international organizations in Vienna;

1996           Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Germany and the Holy See

1998           Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic;

1999           Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Italy;

2002           First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic;

2002-11      Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of SGS NIS SA (Geneva, Switzerland), Manager for the governmental relations with the FSU/CIS states, SGS SA

2007-11      member the Board of Directors of the "World Innovation Foundation Charity" (Bern, Switzerland);

2009-10      Advisor to the Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic;

2007-22      Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of "KUB Management", Kazakhstan;

Since 17.08.2022      Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva;

Since 10.01.2023         Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Swiss Confederation.

 

Since 1998 Mr. Sultanov has the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary

 

Married, has 7 children.
