On January 31, 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Askar Beshimov presented copies of his credentials to the Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Majintha Jayesinghe.

During the conversation issues of further development of friendly Kyrgyz-Sri Lanka relations were discussed with an emphasis on the tasks of building up multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation, including maintaining an active political dialogue.

Also, on January 31, 2024 Ambassador A. Beshimov met with the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries of Sri Lanka Mahinda Amaraweera.

During which the issues of establishing cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed, particularly the export of Kyrgyz agricultural products (honey, dried fruits, etc.) to Sri Lanka and Ceylon tea and coffee to the Kyrgyz Republic. Along with this, the Sri Lankan side expressed its readiness to exchange experience in growing berries, fruits and other types of agriproducts.

Also, on January 31, 2024 a meeting was held with the Minister of Education of Sri Lanka, Susil Premajayantha.

The Minister of Education of Sri Lanka S.Premajayantha briefed on the latest reforms in the country's education sector. He said that about 1.3 million Sri Lankans are students.

Ambassador A. Beshimov, in turn, noted that Kyrgyzstan is the leading country in the region in the export of education services, also briefly informed about the number of foreign students in the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed the readiness of the Kyrgyz side for the most active cooperation in this direction.

As the results of the meetings, the parties agreed to organize visits by the heads of relevant ministries and departments. The parties agreed to maintain contacts to establish and further strengthen cooperation in these sectors.
