History of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic to the USA

With the acquisition of independence by the Kyrgyz Republic in 1991, due to the collapse of the Soviet Union, the United States of America recognized the independence of our country on December 25, 1991. US President George H. W. Bush announced this decision in an address to the nation.

One of the main documents for the development of bilateral relations was the Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States dated August 26, 1992, which laid the foundation for the opening of Embassies in the two countries.

Thus, the following 7 Ambassadors headed the mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United States of America:

1992-1994 - Otunbaeva Roza Isakovna;

1996-2005 – Abdrisaev Baktybek Diushenovich;

2005-2010 – Sydykova Zamira Beksultanovna;

2010-2014 – Jumaliev Mukhtar Kabylbekovich;

2014-2019 – Toktogulov Kadyr Mirbekovich;

2019-2021 – Otunbaev Bolot Isakovich;

2021-current – Amanbaev Baktybek Abdilashimovich.
