Useful tips for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic staying in Republic of Tajikistan

General Information: The Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation  and the Republic of Tajikistan “On Mutual Visa-Free Travel of Citizens”, signed in Minsk on November 30, 2000, provides for reciprocal visa-free travel for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and Republic of Tajikistan.

In accordance with the Rules for the entry, stay and departure from the Republic of Tajikistan of foreign citizens and stateless persons and their transit through the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 31, 2020. No. 207, the Kyrgyz Republic is included in the list of states whose citizens are exempted from registration with the internal affairs bodies for a period up to 60 days.

Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who enter Tajikistan should have the following documents:

- civil passport (foreign);

- service passport;

- diplomatic passport;

- seaman's passport (in the presence of a ship role or an extract from it);

- certificate of return to the Kyrgyz Republic.

At checkpoints at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, ID cards and birth certificates of minors are not recognized as documents used for entry / exit, movement and stay of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Additional necessary documents for crossing the border are drawn up at the checkpoint (temporary import of personal vehicles, etc.).

In addition, in the case of a minor child traveling with one of the parents in Tajikistan, then a power of attorney certified by a notary must be presented from the other parent. If a minor child is in the Republic of Tajikistan without being accompanied by parents, then a power of attorney certified by a notary from both parents must be submitted to the accompanied person or to the receiving party in the Republic of Tajikistan. The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Tajikistan recommends that compatriots staying on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan strictly abide by the norms of the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan regarding the stay of foreign citizens, the terms and procedures for entry, registration and registration of labor relations.

Useful tips: When visiting Tajikistan, you should carry a passport (or a copy of your passport) with you with a temporary registration coupon attached to it.

When contacting police officers to verify documents, you can ask to show your business ID. In this case, you must present only a passport. No need to show the contents of bags and pockets.

If you suspect abuse of authority by internal affairs officers, specify the name, title, place of work of the employee and inform the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Tajikistan or the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Tajikistan about this.

If you have been illegally fined, detained or arrested, seized or corrupted your documents, you have the right to request a meeting with an employee of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Tajikistan.

Be careful when visiting public places, bazaars and when crossing roads.
