On January 29, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Zheenbek Kulubaev received the Special Representative of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Central Asian countries, Ambassador Masaki Ikegami.

During the meetings, the sides thoroughly reviewed the current state and prospects for further expansion and deepening of Kyrgyz-Japanese relations in various fields, in particular in the political, trade and investment spheres.

Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev emphasized the importance of the systematic implementation of agreements following the official visit of the Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Japarov to Japan, which took place on November 17-20, 2023.

Masaki Ikegami expressed the Japanese side’s readiness to further strengthen political contacts and intensify trade and economic cooperation.

The sides also exchanged views on upcoming events within the framework of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue.
